This is in memory of my sister, Maria Lourdes E. San Agustin; whom we lovingly called her Jette…
My Mother told me that she and my Dad gave her that name because Jette used to love to watch this old movie or series of movies with titles like “Gidgette goes to Hawaii” or “Gidgette gets married”! And just like the main character of those movies, Jette was also bubbly, adventurous and funny!
I have two brothers, and Jette was our only sister. She was the apple of our eyes and the light of our family. A light that was extinguished by cancer in 1992. Jette was only 21 years old when she passed away… We miss her badly!
This novel is about the times we’ve spent with her; about her friendships and frustrations; about her suffering and her triumphs; about the moment we found out that she had cancer ’til that faithful day when she passed from this world. This is her story, as seen from the eyes of the people around her…
Jette, if you’re reading this… I hope you like it!
